Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland and home to 13th-century castles, cathedrals and lively riverside nightlife. The city is best known for its pubs and breweries, but its art and history museums hold their own as some of the most popular travel destinations in Ireland. The inspiration for Ireland’s nickname is no stretch of the imagination; the “Emerald Isle” is filled with lush flora.
The Irish, from the Galway seaside to the mountainous regions surrounding Killarney, are well-known for their friendly and welcoming nature. Irish cuisine includes many traditional staples — potatoes, fish and dairy — but is best known for hearty corned beef and cabbage and authentic Irish whiskey.
